Why Not Speak with an Insurance Adjuster?

Back To Car Accident Law Video Help Page

You may receive a call from an insurance adjuster after a car accident or personal injury claim who wants to ask you some questions about the incident. Speaking with the adjuster can endanger any chances you have of receiving fair and maximum compensation for your losses.

Contact TK Law today to be your voice against the insurance company’s sometimes tricky maneuvers, and then refer any questions they have to us.

If an adjuster calls you asking for any information, we strongly suggest you do not speak with them. Your honest statements can be craftily used against you. An Orlando attorney at TK Law can be reached right now for a free, no-obligation consultation: 1-855-Kramer Now (1-855-572-6376).

Common Insurance Adjuster Tricks

An insurance adjuster may come off as friendly and caring, but be aware that he or she is working behind the scenes to bring the most benefit to the company, not you. Some common techniques an adjuster uses to quickly resolve cases and talk people out of the largest sum to which they may be entitled are:

  • Asking specific questions about the incident. While some questions seem fair, insurance adjusters are trained to ask intricate questions that sometimes render confused or muddled answers. Giving what you believe is an honest answer can quickly be spun in the insurance company’s favor.
  • Asking about your health. By giving an insurance adjuster any information about your medical condition before or after an accident or injury, you may forfeit any award by unintentionally offering another explanation to why you wrecked or were injured.
  • Recording statements. You hear often on telephone calls that “this call may be monitored or recorded.” Simply put, you cannot legally afford to have any conversation recorded while you are nervous or pursuing a legal case. Anything you say can be misinterpreted.
  • Spying on social media. As innocent as your social media posts may be, it is best to deny an insurance adjuster any public access to your page and to not post anything that is not consistent with your injuries. For example, if you suffer a brain injury or herniated disk, any photos you post that portray you bending from the waist, driving a car or similar can become tangible evidence of your daily activities and abilities.
  • Requesting you sign documents in person or through the mail. None of us may read all the fine print of every contract, but even if you do read the small print for insurance documents sent to you, do not sign anything. You could very well be signing away all of your rights to seek maximum compensation. Give all documents from the insurance company to your attorney to review.
