As if being in an unexpected automobile accident is not bad enough, a wreck with an underinsured or uninsured driver in Orlando adds to the devastation. Florida has laws that ensure some compensation. Contact TK Law today for a free, no obligation consultation with one of our experienced attorneys to see how you can recover damages: 855-Kramer-Now (855-572-6376).
At TK Law we encourage our clients to protect themselves first by having their own voluntary uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage (UM coverage) on their insurance policy. Our accident attorneys pursue both parties’ insurance coverage in the event of an underinsured/uninsured wreck to retrieve the full benefit available. This way, if the other driver in an accident has no or inadequate liability coverage, our client’s uninsured / underinsured policies will kick in to pay compensation for their injuries. We explain this in detail in our video about UM Claims.

Florida Personal Injury Protection Coverage (PIP)
Florida is a no-fault injury state that requires every driver to carry Personal Injury Protection (PIP or no-fault) coverage that offers initial medical coverage and a death benefit. More action may be taken once our client reaches the maximum PIP limits to ensure he or she is protected as much as possible for recovering adequate compensation for their injuries. If there is no underinsured/uninsured provision, PIP coverage is not nearly enough insurance to pay the costs of medical treatment, lost wages, pain and suffering, disability and other injury-related expenses if a person sustains catastrophic injuries.
What to do When a Driver Says He or She Has No Insurance
Florida has laws that require each driver to carry some form of insurance or to be held criminally liable for not doing so. In the event a driver does not have insurance, do not get physically angry and take justice into your own hands at the scene of an accident. Instead, if you are physically able, then do the following:
- Gather and write down as much information as you can about the driver (names, contact phone numbers and/or email addresses, physical addresses)
- Take pictures of the accident scene (to show damages)
- Share your insurance information and call your insurance representative
- Call a reliable attorney
