Should You Represent Yourself in A Foreclosure?

Video Script Below

Hi. I am Steve Kramer of the TK Law Firm. I’m a Florida foreclosure defense attorney. And today we are going to be talking about whether you should represent yourself in a foreclosure. Sure you can do it; there is no question that you can represent yourself in court. But, there is that saying “He who represents himself, has a fool for a client.” And that even extends to attorneys. Maybe you do know the rules? Maybe you got 20 years of experience? Maybe you’ve…maybe you were an attorney and you are not any more. Maybe you know some of the complex rules and complex laws? Maybe you know about all of the defenses? But if you are like most people, you don’t. You don’t know how to defend a summary judgment. You don’t know how to prepare and answer affirmative defenses. You don’t know the difference between a motion to dismiss and an answer. You don’t know all of the issues that come up in these lawsuits. And if that is the case, you shouldn’t be representing yourself. Why do you want to learn all that stuff? You’ve got better things to do. The other thing is, you don’t want the stress! There are two reasons people hired an attorney. One, because they have an issue that they are dealing with that is causing them great stress. They don’t want to go to jail, they don’t want to lose their house, they don’t want to never see their kids again, right? That’s one reason why people hire an attorney. The other reason people hire an attorney is because somebody else can take on that stress, somebody else can handle that issue for them. And that’s what we do! We’re going to help you keep your house, or try to get as long as possible in that house, or try to get of it without owing money. And the other thing that we are going to do take on all the stress, we’re going to worry about all of these things so that you don’t have to! So that you can live your life the way you want to. Why am I telling you this? Because if you are looking at a foreclosure, if you are facing one, then these are probably issues you are dealing with and we can help you with them. We do have the experience, and the knowledge and the information to defend these things seamlessly and to make your life easier and to hopefully get you the result that you want. And I would be glad to talk with you anytime. Call me at the number below and I would love to talk.
